CENTRAL LUZON NRAM CELEBRATION KICKS-OFF

City of San Fernando, Pampanga—The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 3 Rice Program led the kick-off ceremony of the National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) on November 3, 2020 at DA Conference Room.

Proclamation No. 524 s. 2004 declared the month of November as NRAM.

With the theme “Grow Local. Buy Local. Eat Local. #SuppportourRiceFarmers”, is a sequel to last year’s campaign. However this time, it underscores not only marketing and consumption but also production of local rice.

It seeks to rally various rice stakeholders, such as farmers to optimize farm yields using yield-enhancing and cost-reducing technologies; local government units and other institutions to support our farmers especially in buying their harvests as a reasonable price; and the rice-consuming public to patronize our locally-produced rice.

OIC-Regional Executive Director Crispulo G. Bautista, Jr. encouraged DA employees to celebrate the rice-awareness month, and perform better in their tasks for the benefit of Central Luzon farmers. Further, Bautista also urged the employees to support the Filipino rice farmers by buying the local rice instead of imported rice.

This celebration aims to encourage every Filipino to do their small share of RICEponsibility by valuing every grain of rice and eating healthier rice to benefit themselves, other consumers, rice farmers, and the country as a whole.

Rice Program Coordinator Lowell Rebillaco presented the month-long celebration activities which includes: Poster Making Contest, Webinar on Rice Resiliency Project and Webinar on Palayamanan. ###
