DA, PSAU INKS MOA ON ESTABLISHMENT OF 90M MEAT CUTTING PLANT, COLD STORAGE WAREHOUSE

Magalang, Pampanga—The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 3 together with DA-National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) inked a Memorandum of Agreement with the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) to provide a total amount of Php90-million grant to the university.

Agricultural Secretary William D. Dar and the PSAU President Honorio M. Soriano, Jr., signed the MOA and led the groundbreaking ceremony of Meat Cutting Plant (MPC) and Cold Storage Warehouse (CSW) on November 21, 2020 held at PSAU.

The project funded by DA-NMIS the Meat Cutting Plant and Cold Storage Warehouse in Magalang aims to encourage and support the meat industry to accommodate the value adding and increase the local farmer income.

“Ngayong may additional budget na tayo at gusto na nating maalis ang problemang importation ng mga meat sa ating bansa, maganda na mayroon tayong facilities” Secretary Dar said. 

According to Secretary Dar, the DA-RFO 3 will be equally involved in these projects since the function and responsibility of having a service involved the livestock industry of Central Luzon.

“Hindi lang National Meat Inspection Service ang involve sa project na ito kundi pati ang ating DA Region 3,” Secretary Dar added.

This activity was also attended by Mayor of Magalang Romy Pecson, Assistant Secretary & Undersecretary-designate for Livestock Dr. William C. Medrano, Executive Director of National Meat Inspection Service Dr. Reildrin G. Morales, OIC-Regional Executive Director Crispulo G. Bautista, Jr., Acting Director II of Regional Technical Operation National Meat Inspection Service Dr. Orlando C. Ongsotto, Director of Bureau of Animal Industry Dr. Ronnie D. Domingo and other DA officials.
