10,000 BAGS CAPACITY ONION COLD STORAGE TO RISE IN MONCADA, TARLAC

Groundbreaking Ceremony of the 10,000 bags Capacity Onion Cold Storage under the Bayanihan II of the Department of Agriculture RFO III – High Value Crops Development Program at Brgy. Ablang Sapang, Moncada, Tarlac.

The 10,000 bags capacity Onion Cold Storage will be constructed and provided to Sapang Multipurpose Cooperative (SMPC). The project will benefit the onion growers in prolonging the shelf life of onions to at least 6-8 months and reducing 10-15% post-harvest losses as well as maintaining and optimizing product quality. Thus, onion produce will eventually coincide with higher prices in the market resulting in higher income.

The groundbreaking ceremony was participated by the Undersecretary for Regulations, Engr. Zamzamin L. Ampatuan, CESO I, DA-RFO3 OIC-Regional Executive Director, Crispulo G. Bautista, Jr., Representative from the office of the High Value Crops and Rural Credit, Jeffrey Rodriguez and Geronimo Dela Cruz, Regional HVCDP Focal Person, Engr. AB P. David and Report Officer Christine Joy L. Corpuz, Moncada Tarlac Mayor, Hon. Estelita M. Aquino, Provincial and Municipal Local Government Units, SMPC General Manager, Engr.
