Proving again itself as the Rice Granary of the Philippines, Central Luzon attains a total of 3,741,210.53 metric tons (MT) rice production almost 3% or 106,062.94 metric tons higher compared to 3,635,147.59 MT of the previous year 2020—this is based on the 2021 data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The record also showed an increase in the area harvested of 2.37% or 16,854.42 hectares.
In his message, DA Central Luzon Regional Executive Director Crispulo G. Bautista, Jr. recognized the efforts of the farmers of Central Luzon for they are the main reason why the region continuously excels in agriculture sector.
Bautista also thanked the joined efforts of the key officials/employees of DA Central Luzon, partner PLGUs, DA attached agencies, and the private sector he challenged them to maintain or surpass the milestone in the following year.
Meanwhile, in an interview, Secretary William D. Dar noted that Central Luzon is one of the biggest contributors to local rice production.
