CPAR Kicks Off Rice Farmers of Zambales
BOTOLAN, ZAMBALES- The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 3 thru its Research and Development for Hillyland Station conducted a Community-based Participatory Action Research (CPAR) happened this 6-8 of October, 2020.
The program aims to introduced the programs of the Bureau of Agricultural Research that is intended for generating significant information by verifying the technical and economic feasibility of mature technologies prior to widespread adoption.
Twenty rice farmers of Brgy. Panan served as the project beneficiaries that undergo with the step by step research procedure to improved their way of farming by adopting new research technologies.
Aside from tilling rice, the farmers were introduced on how to engaged with livestock production. Thru Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) problems regarding on crop and livestock production were determined and together with the farmer action was formulated based from the results.
Therefore, technologies on Rice based farming System with the integration of vegetables and dual-purpose crops as well as the goat and native pig production management are some of the topics that has been tackled at the seminar.
Moreover, 103 head of chicken were also distributed to the farmers that served as their initial capital for them to developed and provide additional income for them.
