DA DISTRIBUTES LIVELIHOOD ASSISTANCE TO ASF AFFECTED BACKYARD HOG RAISERS
The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office lll through its Livestock Program distributed 20 heads of carabao and 20 heads of cow to the African Swine Fever affected hog raisers in San Isidro, Nueva Ecija on July 1, 2020.
The program was launched to provide alternative source of income for backyard hog raisers affected by ASF mostly in Central Luzon.
The Department has requested 200 million pesos to buy poultry and livestock such as broilers, layers and raised chicken, goats, cows and buffalos.
Under this program, 400,000 broiler chicks, almost 23,000 layer chicken, more than 6,000 raised chicken, 2,000 goats, 2,000 cattle and 1,500 buffaloes are to be distributed.
As of July 01, DA has awarded 344,000 broiler chicks, 500 ready to lay pullets, 2,800 raised chicken, 180 carabao and 224 cows.
Meanwhile, the indemnity payment for ASF affected will resume this month of July, 2020.
