Angeles City, Pampanga – The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 3 through the Rice Banner Program conducted Rice Program Second Quarter Coordination Meeting with Provincial Counterparts from June 1 to 2, 2022, at OGH Resort Hotel, Angeles City, Pampanga. In his welcome remarks, Regional Technical Director for Operations and Extension and AMAD Dr. Eduardo Lapuz, Jr. gave his heartwarming welcome to all of the participants of the said event, he then stated the importance of this meeting.“First working day of June, and 30 days bago tayo magkaroon ng bagong Presidente, at kung sino man po ang maging kalihim natin, ang magiging output po natin ngayon ay magiging mahalaga dahil ito po ay ipi-present po natin sa next administration.
Alam ko po na tayong lahat naman ay expert na pagdating dito sa ating larangan, so lahat po ng ating magiging output dito ay alam ko na makakatulong sa pagpapatupad ng program pagdating sa Rice Program,” he added.Regional Executive Director Crispulo G. Bautista Jr. also graced the meeting and gave his directives and message wherein he reiterates that we are now in a food crisis, not only in our country but also in the whole world.“Kailangang magsama ang Department of Agriculture at ang mga farmers natin sa LGU para matugunan ang pangangailangan ng pagkain sa ating bansa, and siyempre I would like to congratulate the group yung 2021 production natin is record breaking nationally saka dito sa region natin,” he stated.
He also emphasizes the crucial effects of the Russia-Ukraine war particularly on the prices of fertilizers and the adverse effect of the pandemic not only on the production of fertilizer but also in terms of logistics that leads to the elevation of prices of fertilizers.
Updates on Soil Health Restoration and Rejuvenation Balanced Fertilization Strategy, Good Agricultural Practices for Rice, Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture, Seed Distribution (Wet Season 2022), Fertilizer Voucher 2021 and 2022 Allocation, 21-0-0 Distribution, 2021 Solar Powered Fertigation System (SPFS) and 2022 Small Scale Irrigation Project, 2022 Farm Mechanization, and Local Farmer Technicians were discussed during the first day.
