DA-HVCDP Administered Drone Sprayer Management & Operation In The Province Of Zambales
Department of Agriculture – High Value Crops Development Program (DA-HVCDP) administered drone sprayer management and operation in Iba, Zambales on February 8-12, 2021. The drone sprayer was provided to the Mango Growers Associations and Cooperatives for the project, Mango Rehabilitation/Rejuvenation Program under the Bayanihan Act II.
Modern technologies in today’s society brought significant advancements most especially in the field of Agriculture. One of the innovations introduced is the use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft System or commonly known as drones. Agricultural drones offer relief to farmers through crop spraying (pesticide and liquid fertilizer) and can easily monitor their crops.
However, in order to use and operate Agricultural drones, persons in charge to facilitate the drone must need to undergo proper training to execute the equipment in a safer way and to equip them with the guidelines and protocols on the proper usage and storage for the agricultural drone sprayer.
Thus, to formally introduced this modern technology in the province of Zambales, the DA-HVCDP conducted a five-day training for the drone sprayer management and operation with the help of Harbest Agribusiness Corporation.
The training activities includes basic knowledge about drone; learning simulator installation; learning about apps and drone; learning about autonomous and AB Mode; learning a different aspect of spraying; lecture on the remote controls; mapping; flying small drones, manual, autonomous, and AB mode. Also, with the participation of the selected mango growers (beneficiaries for Mango Rehabilitation/Rejuvenation Project), AEW from LGUs, Municipal/City Agriculturist, and Provincial Agriculturist, the event made possible and successful.
