DA LAUNCHES HYBRID RICE VARIETAL DERBY
The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office III (DA-RFO III) in coordination with the Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), Provincial Agriculture Office of Nueva Ecija and City Agricultural Office of Munoz launched the Hybrid Rice Varietal Derby on July 14, 2020 at CLSU Compound, Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija.
The purpose of the activity is to showcase the potentials by applying the best cultural management and practices during wet season of different hybrid rice varieties used under the Rice Resiliency Project of the Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat kontra CoViD-19 (ALPAS CoViD-19) or also known as Plant Plant Plant Program (Agri 4Ps).
Seven seed companies participated in the said activity namely: Corteva Agriscience, Bioseed Research Phil. Inc., Bayer, LongPing, SeedWorks, Syngenta, SL Agritech Corporation.DA-RFO III OIC-Regional Executive Director Crispulo G. Bautista, Jr. said that they will continuously update the farmers of Central Luzon regarding the progress of the hybrid varieties from planting up to harvesting stage.
