DA programs presented in Pampanga Mayor’s League
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA-The Department of Agriculture (DA) of Central Luzon shared the programs they are implementing in Pampanga Mayor’s League (PML) Meeting that belongs to the mayors and the governor of the province of Pampanga this 22th January at Bren Z Guiao Convention Center, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
The Municipal Agricultural Officers of every town and city of Pampanga were also invited to the meeting.
This meeting was a great opportunity for Director Crispulo G. Baptist, Jr. current Regional Executive Director of DA Central Luzon, ′′ We are here as a partner imparting the programs and projects of the government specifically in agriculture sector. Our office will be open for suggestions to give aid to our farmers in the province of Pampanga “, ani Bautista.
The Governor of Pampanga, Dennis ′′ Delta ′′ Pineda, is very grateful because the DA supported their invitation. He also said that the meeting will provide an update on DA’s implementation programs and projects. In addition to this, they are also one of the certifying DA’s select beneficiaries.
After this, the Chief of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division Arthur Dayrit shared the programs and projects of the department for the year 2020-2021 and the allocation of funds for the province of Pampanga. This includes the budget of DA from Bayanihan 1 or Bayanihan to Heal as One Act. Under this was implemented Rice Resilience Project (Wet Season) with allocation PhP114. 13 million for seed distribution and PhP108. 01 million for fertilizer distribution; PhP76. 50 million for Rice Farmers Financial Assistance or RFFA (11,108 beneficiaries); PhP308. 93 million in Indemnification for African Swine Fever (ASF); and PhP52. 47 million Quick Response Fund for Distribution of Animals for ASF affected backyard hog raisers.
Pampanga also got an allocation from Solidarity 2 (Bayanihan to Recover as One Act) fund allocation of DA. It includes PhP156. 53 million distribution of free rice seed and fertilizer for dry season planting (under Rice Program); PhP602 thousand for Fall Armyworm Management (under Corn Program); PhP2. 475 million High Value Allocation Crop Development (HVCD) programs and projects; PhP95 million for provincial Livestock Program projects; and PhP285 million funds for special project building National Seed Technology Park in New Clark City.
Aside from Bayanihan 1 and 2, Doc also shared. Arthur is the proposed budget allocation for 2021 Regular Programs of DA Region III for the province with a total of 329.22 million pesos of funds. It includes the distribution of machinery, facilities and other agricultural equipment; animals and seeds distribution; assistance and trainings; and Farm to Market Roads.
Following this, the Baptist Director is asking the mayors and Municipal Agricultural Officers to register their farmers in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture or RSBSA because of this, the department of farmers is based and collecting aid.
In order to speed up the registration of farmers in RSBSA, Governor Delta volunteered that the Provincial Government will allocate funds to bring the registration to the barangay level. It also gave a warning to those who certify not really legitimate farmers and those who sell received aid to the department will be sued and given appropriate punishment.
Apart from this, the Integrated Laboratory Division of DA Region 3 also gave an update on cases of rabies in Pampanga. It was created to raise awareness of the programs and projects being promoted to eliminate animal rabies in the country and eliminate the case of people dying.
At the end of the meeting, the governor mentioned that he will also prepare a meeting with NIA and BFAR to discuss their programs and answer the questions of other mayors.###
