April 20, 2022- The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 3 (DA RFO 3) through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) kicked off the 3-day Agri-Trade Fair under KADIWA ni Ani at Kita program which will run until April 22, 2022 at Marquee Mall, Angeles City spearheaded by Mr. Fernando Lorenzo, Chief of AMAD, together with his team.
It was attended by provincial agribusiness coordinators and other provincial counterparts.The activity is in line with the celebration of the Filipino Food Month 2022 and aims to showcase local produce of twenty-two (22) participating SMEs/FCAs from the provinces of Region 3.
During the opening of the activity, AMAD Senior Agriculturist, Ms. Carmencita Nogoy, introduced the participants while AMAD Chief, Mr. Fernando Lorenzo, gave the rationale and acknowledged the guests. “Ang Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino ay naglalayong mapahalagahan, maingatan, maisulong at maisaling lahi ang mayamang tradisyon at kultura sa pagluluto sa susunod na mga henerasyon.
Ito ay naglalayon din na tulungan ang mga industriya na umaasa sa agrikultura, mga magsasaka at mga agri-community.”, Mr. Lorenzo emphasized. Ms. Peachy Atendido, the General Manager of Marquee Mall, said that as part of their “Alagang Ayala Land” advocacy, they are honored to be part of this event by providing a venue for farmers to sell their quality and safe products directly to consumers at affordable prices.On the other hand, Dr. Romulo Mendoza, Jr., General Manager of O Garden Hotel, as the guest of honor for the activity, shared his message of support and thanked the Department of Agriculture for holding an event like this calling the promotion of local farmers’ products philanthropic.
Also, at the opening of the activity, DA RFO 3 AMAD held a competition for the most innovative food product among the provinces of Region 3. The province of Zambales’ ‘Trail Mix’ bested the entries from other provinces which is a unique take on a western classic snack loaded with different chips (Banana, Taro, and Camote) with sesame candy and garlic peanuts. Pampanga’s Stinging Nettle Root Tea and Bataan’s Cassava Chips ended up second and third place, respectively.
