The province of Pampanga under the leadership of Hon. Governor Lilia G. Pineda aims to boost even more its agricultural output using the material interventions from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Provincial Local Government Unit. Recently, the province purchased assorted vegetable seeds under the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) headed by Ms. Marieta Ocampo, Provincial HVCDP Coordinator, which were given to various municipalities with IPS and 4Ps, while the DA provided farm machinery and equipment to accelerate rice and corn production.
The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) whose is currently under the supervision of Mr. Edilberto E. Salenga, Officer-In-Charge, OPA, in coordination with the different municipalities continue to conduct Farmers Field School on Palay Check and Organic Vegetable Production to directly disseminate mature technologies to farmers. There were 4 municipalities and 4 barangays involving 108 farmers and RIC members who graduated and benefited.
Trainings and Workshop on Organic Agriculture and Rice Crop Manager continue to be one of the activities of DA, OPA and Municipal Local Government Units partnership to ascertain that basic agricultural services are delivered in manners/ methods that can maintain required agricultural production without harming the natural eco-system.
