FEED CHEMICAL ANALYSIS LABORATORY

The Feed Chemical Analysis Laboratory has been instrumental in the execution of its regulatory functions according to the provision of Republic Act numbers 1556 and 10611 otherwise known as “Livestock and Poultry Feeds Act” and “Food Safety Act of 2013”.

Aside from enabling the execution of the said mandatory acts, the FCAL has been supporting research, development, and extension (RD & E) and other endeavor of the academic, government, private, and public sectors through the provision of laboratory testing services and other agricultural production support services. Through these critical laboratory services, feed products, and eventually livestock and poultry products, which are being produced and marketed in the region were assured to conform to applicable quality and safety standards and specifications.

LIST OF KEY PROJECTS

Aside from providing the testing requirement to the DA’s Regulatory Division, the clients being catered to by the lab are from the banner programs, research stations, backyard raisers, academe and students.  The laboratory determines if the animal feeds and feed ingredients being manufactured and distributed within the region are at par with the standards set by the law.

Moreover, in support to the Food Safety Act of 2013, the FCAL conducts regular monitoring of the presence of Aflatoxin in finished feeds and corn at the farm level.  Crop samples are also being tested for the determination of Pesticide Residue.
